¿Cómo vinculo mi teléfono con SYNC®*?

To use any phone features for SYNC, you must first connect or "pair" your Bluetooth®**-enabled device to the system.

Identify Your Lincoln's SYNC Generation

Two resources to help you identify your vehicle's SYNC generation are:

  • Página de SYNC y actualizaciones de navegación, which allows you to enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or log in with your Lincoln credentials and select Verificar actualización. Your current SYNC generation will appear on the right-hand side of the page.

SYNC Pairing Instructions

Important: Ensure that your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area and is in Park (P), not Accessory mode.

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to find connection instructions.

SYNC 4

To connect your phone to your SYNC 4 system:

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

  4. Presiona Configuración en la pantalla de SYNC de tu vehículo.
  5. Selecciona Conectividad.
  6. Press Bluetooth.
  7. Tap Add a Bluetooth Device. Un mensaje te avisará que busques tu vehículo en el teléfono.
  8. Select your vehicle on your phone. Aparecerá un número en tu teléfono y en tu pantalla de SYNC.
  9. Confirma que el número del dispositivo coincida con el número en la pantalla de SYNC.

The SYNC screen will indicate that you have successfully paired your device.

SYNC 3

To connect your phone to your SYNC 3 system:

  1. Press the Phone tab on your vehicle's SYNC 3 screen.

  2. Tap Add Device. If there is already a paired phone, SYNC 3 displays its name.

  3. Scan for devices on the phone until SYNC 3 is found. It will display as "SYNC" or the model of your vehicle.
  4. Select the SYNC 3 result from the previous step on your phone.
    • If prompted to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN), enter the one from the SYNC screen.
    • If you are not prompted to enter a PIN, confirm that the PIN displayed by SYNC 3 matches the PIN displayed on the phone.
  5. Press Pair on your phone and Yes on your SYNC touchscreen.

  6. You will see a Pairing Successful message.

  7. You will be able to turn on or off 911 Assist and Auto-Download contacts.

  8. Press Finish to complete the pairing.

Pairing an Additional Phone

To pair another device:

  1. Press the paired phone.
  2. Touch View Devices.

  3. Tap Add a Bluetooth Device and follow the prompts.

SYNC will ask if you want the phone to be your favorite. SYNC would like you to choose which phone you would like connected if there is more than one paired phone in the vehicle.

Notas:

  • You can pair multiple devices, but only one at a time can be used with SYNC. 
  • You can use these instructions to pair other Bluetooth devices.

SYNC con navegación activada por voz

To pair your phone with SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Turn on discoverability on your phone. This is normally a timed function, so you will want to work quickly to complete the pairing from this point.
  3. Press the Phone hard button on the system. The screen may read "No Phone Connected."
  4. Press the Settings tab on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  5. Press Add. A 6-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) will appear on the radio display.
  6. On the phone, go to Bluetooth Settings and select SYNC. Some devices search automatically, but others may require you to search for a device.
  7. Enter the PIN shown on the SYNC screen on your phone and press Enter.

Your phone will pair, and you will receive a message that the pairing was successful. Mira el dispositivo y SYNC, y responde las indicaciones adicionales o preguntas que cualquiera de los dispositivos indique.

SYNC Gen. 1.1

To pair your phone with SYNC Gen 1.1:

  1. Confirm Bluetooth is turned on for your phone.
  2. Turn on discoverability. This is normally a timed function, so you will want to work quickly to complete the pairing from this point.
  3. Press the Phone button. The SYNC system will attempt to connect to a previously paired phone. If no phones have been previously paired, it will say no paired phone. Select the option to Add.
  4. When a message to begin pairing appears in the display, search for SYNC on your phone to start the pairing process.
  5. On the phone, go to Bluetooth Settings and select SYNC. Some phones search automatically, such as an iPhone®†, but some devices may require you to search for a device.
  6. When your phone finds SYNC, select it. Depending on your software version, your phone may prompt you to enter the 6-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN), or it may display the PIN automatically.
  7. The device should pair, and you should receive a message that the pairing was successful.

SYNC Gen 1

To pair your phone with SYNC Gen 1:

  1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Turn on discoverability on your phone. This is normally a timed function, so you will want to work quickly to complete the pairing from this point.
  3. Press the Phone button on the radio unit to enter the phone menu.
  4. Locate "Add Bluetooth Device" or use the seek buttons or directional arrows to navigate until it is displayed. Presiona OK.
  5. "Find SYNC" will be displayed. Presiona OK.
  6. A 6-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) will be displayed on the screen. It will stay on the screen for up to three minutes while pairing is completed.
  7. On the phone, go to Bluetooth Settings and select SYNC. Some devices search automatically, such as an iPhone®†, but others may require you to search for a device.
  8. Enter the PIN shown on the SYNC Screen into the device and press Enter.
  9. The device should pair, and you should receive a message that the pairing was successful.
