How do I activate my Lincoln vehicle's modem using the Lincoln Way app?

You can enable your vehicle's modem by using the Lincoln Way® app* and adjusting your Connectivity Settings in your vehicle's SYNC®** or Lincoln Digital Experience system. Activating the vehicle's modem enables remote commands and other features.

Requirements

Before you begin, the following preconditions must be met:

Connecting to Your Vehicle's Modem

Select your Lincoln Way app experience from the dropdown options below for the instructions to activate or connect your vehicle's modem. 

Lincoln Way App 4.X Experience

To activate your vehicle's modem:

  1. Open the Lincoln Way app.
  2. Select the Home screen.
  3. Tap Activate Vehicle.

    Note: If your vehicle is equipped with a modem and the Activate Vehicle button does not appear, contact a Lincoln Way Client Experience Manager through Account > Help.
     
  4. Enter and start your vehicle.
  5. Leave it in Park (P) and keep your vehicle running. A message should appear on your vehicle screen.
  6. Accept the activation confirmation pop-up.
  7. Refresh the Home screen in the Lincoln Way app by swiping down on your device screen.

The remote commands should appear below your vehicle's image.

Lincoln Way App 5.X Experience

To connect to your vehicle:

  1. Enter and turn your vehicle on.
  2. Open the Lincoln Way app.
  3. Select Connect to Vehicle.

    Note: If your vehicle is equipped with a modem and the Activate Vehicle button does not appear, contact a Lincoln Way Client Experience Manager through Account > Help.
     
  4. Tap I've Started my Vehicle.
  5. Read and accept the prompt on your vehicle screen. 

    Note: It may take up to two minutes for the connection to complete.
     
  6. Press Check Connection Status once you accept the in-vehicle prompt.

The Lincoln Way app will route you back to the Vehicle screen and the remote commands (if available) should appear below your vehicle's image.
