How do I check for SYNC or Digital Experience updates?

You can view available Digital Experience®*, and SYNC®** 4 updates in your vehicle. For most other versions of SYNC, you will need to go to the Lincoln SYNC and Navigation Updates website.

Checking for Updates

Select Lincoln Digital Experience or your SYNC generation from the dropdowns below to learn how to check for available updates for your entertainment system. If you need assistance determining your SYNC system's generation, select the first drop-down option. 

Identifying Your SYNC Software Generation

Lincoln Digital Experience

To check for an update with Lincoln Digital Experience::

  1. Select Settings on your vehicle's Digital Experience screen.
  2. Tap System.
  3. Choose Software Updates.
  4. Press Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details. 

SYNC 4

To check for an update with SYNC 4:

  1. Select Settings on your SYNC screen.
  2. Tap Software Updates.
  3. Select Update Details to display any pending updates and previous update details. 

SYNC 3, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch™, SYNC Generation 1.1, and SYNC Generation 1

To check for an update with SYNC 3, SYNC with MyLincoln Touch, SYNC Generation 1.1, and SYNC Generation 1:

  1. Visit the SYNC and Navigation Updates page.
  2. Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and select Check for update.
  3. Select the SYNC Update Available dropdown.
    • If your SYNC software is current, you will see a green check mark and a message stating that an update is not available for your vehicle.
    • If your SYNC software is out of date, you will see a triangle with an exclamation point. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete your software update.
